Today Friday 9 July 2021, Impact Africa is showcasing some of ‘OUR DEDICATED VOLUNTEERS’ serving tirelessly at Khathalelana, a non governmental organisation doing great & amazing work in Delft, Cape town, Africa.

In celebration of Late Tata Nelson Mandela’s July birthday, we are celebrating and honouring these four dedicated Khathalelana volunteers – Mr Jason Johnson, Miss Noleen Talmarkes, Miss Zeldine Nel and Ms Porchea Samuels.

Jason ia a 23 years old quiet and hardworking young man, who was born and grew up in Delft. He joined Khathalelana as a volunteer in April 2021 through attending a free training course. He has been humbled with the experience of volunteering and improved himself in being more patient. His advice to young people is to ‘Just Do it’ when it comes to volunteering.

Noleen is a 30 years old single mother of three young children. She was born in Mitchells Plain and moved to Delft at a very young age. Her late sister was a volunteer with Khathalelana and she joined to keep her memory alive after she passed. She believes she has benefitted greatly from being a volunteer and looking forward to contributing more of her time. Her advice to viewers is to ‘Never Doubt Yourself’.

Zeldine is 23 years old and lives with her parents in Delft. She was introduced to Khathalelana by a friend. She has been involved in the after school classes, dancing and more. She has benefitted greatly through the free training she has been attending which will help her in life. She is an upcoming singing artist and very passionate about God. Her advice to our viewers is to please ‘Help A Child’.

She got involved as a volunteer with Khathalelana from the very beginning when she met the dynamic founder Mrs Marlene Jamieson through her grandson who was in her class then. She has been actively involved in different roles – teaching dance, serving food, hosting their events, training, board member and more. She would to encourage a lot of people to volunteer as ‘Volunteering is so rewarding’.

Khathalelana (meaning Care for One Another in Xhosa language) was established as a non governmental organisation in June 2016 by the Founder / Director Mrs Marlene Jameson. Marlene has lived in Delft for 25 years witnessing the need in the area and wanted to help the community from her home.
